Male Breast Surgery

Male breast reduction (colloquially called “man boob reduction”) is a procedure to tighten the chest area. The procedure is meant for men who suffer from gynaemastia or man boobs—a condition wherein the glandular tissues are enlarged similar to that of female breasts.

Research shows that 40-60% of men suffer from gynaemastia. Although the condition seldom causes pain, men often become self-conscious and insecure of their chest.

Man boobs can be eliminated by removal of excess breast tissue either through surgery or liposuction. The procedure results can include a firmer and tighter looking chest. Any scarring is usually not visible, especially if the incision is done along the border of the nipple.

You can get breast reduction surgery if you satisfy the following criteria:

  • You are physically and mentally stable
  • You trust the process and the surgeon that will perform your surgery
  • You have elastic skin that can be reshaped and remolded
  • You have reasonable expectations

Should I get breast reduction surgery?

If you’re not happy with your appearance and you are disappointed with the way your chest looks, then you should definitely consider getting breast reduction surgery.

Where will you conduct the procedure?

The surgery will be done in a private hospital.

How long do I have to stay in hospital after the procedure?

We allow most of our patients to leave the hospital a few hours after the surgery.

What type of anesthesia will be used?

The patient and the surgeon assigned may choose from local, general, or twilight anesthesia.

Do I have to wear pressure garments after the surgery?

We require all of our patients to wear pressure garments for about a month and a half post-surgery in order to make sure the healing process goes well.

What is the recovery period?

You may resume work after five to seven days of rest, provided your work does not involve manual labor. However, if your work involves manual labor, you will need roughly two weeks to recover. Moreover, it is important that you to stay away from any strenuous activities for a month and a half.
